Description: Belgian-made French pattern Civil War Musket. Converted to Shotgun with fine London Made Barrel , aprox .75 cal. / 12 bore. *** PHOTOS COMING SOON *** Fine fowling piece in its day , w 42 inch barrel of elaborate design : Octagon at breach, doubling to 16 facets at forearm, then round profile after accent divider. Stamped " London " on bbl top. Floral engraving, gold-wash and nickel-silver (?) inlay at breach & top tang. Small patinated disc in buttstock, reads " M I ". Steel Buttplate marked " N C 8 3 ". Buttstock marked " 8 3 " on left. Small diamond proof mark w ' 1 ' inside on lock plate. North & South alike imported many such surplus arms from europe before domestic mfr's could catch up with demand.

Solid, handsome arm. Lockwork still functions smartly. Blued finish largely intact w some areas transitioning to patina.
