This listing is for the exact revolver in the photos. Dealers, collectors, and agencies may take any virtually identical extras we have on hand at the same per-gun price and with no additional shipping charges. During the days of the .44 Magnum Double Action Revolver’s heyday in the Reagan Era, a person had a dozen or so model series to chose from, anywhere from the RG44 all the way to the Colt Anaconda. Now, though, there are only three men left standing: Ruger, Smith & Wesson, and Taurus. This is the Taurus Raging Bull, numbered model 444, the beefed up descendant of the Smith & Wesson 629 Hunter series. Manufacturer is Forjas Taurus S.A. of Porto Alegre, Brazil. Importer is Taurus International of Miami. Construction is entirely stainless steel, with the exception of the pinned in low partridge black blade front sight, and windage and elevation adjustable rear sight, Taurus stippled surface, red-rubber cushioned combat finger groove grips, and the blue hex head patented Taurus internal lock embedded into the hammer. Type is traditional double and single action revolver. Capacity is six rounds of .44 Smith & Wesson Special or .44 Remington Magnum ammunition, interchangeably. Barrel is 6 1/2 inch Full Lug, Ventilated Rib ported to control muzzle climb, with three vent slots to control heat wave distortion, recessed with four ports on either side of the front sight. Hammer and trigger are 1980s style satin stainless, .400 smooth faced trigger and .430 medium spur length Target Hammer. Weight empty is 53 ounces, with center of gravity at the front cylinder face. Note the dual lockup, beveled thumb latch main cylinder release, and serrated front thumb latch that ensures lockup strength and guards against the endshake and lateral play frequently found on parental competitor Smith & Wesson model 629s. This revolver is what we call a factory demo, most likely a sales rep’s showgirl that pulled display duty at trade shows like the annual SHOT show in Las Vegas. Surface detractions are negligible, not as much as we’ve seen happen in our own shop for display guns, faint amounts of cylinder rotation marking and carbon deposits on the cylinder face that are common with brand new Tauruses. We rate it as excellent, perhaps Near Mint in Box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Serial number is suffixed with the letter X, always the case on Taurus demo guns. It comes in its factory box with protective papers, sight protector, two keys for its hammer lock, instruction manual, and a factory registration card. This revolver carries the same famous Taurus Factory service warranty as any other Taurus Firearm. If it has been fired since its initial factory test session, it was fewer than 20 times we believe. Replacement pricing on this revolver in our area is upwards of $800, if a person can even find one. We’re offering the Taurus 444 Raging Bull 6 1/2 inch Stainless in the photos, however, for only $ 569.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of Massachusetts. CA DOJ Roster status approved through 9/28/2014.
