Description: HG4458 Revolver in the photo is one of only a few special edition variants of the S&W .38 Centennial Airweight Stainless. Mr. Ken Sedlecky served with distinction in the U.S. Military and in the Firearms Industry, longest with Smith & Wesson as Senior Manufacturer’s Representative. Mr. Sedlecky’s role in forming the Texas DIVA shooting organization for women earned him posthumously the distinction of being the only person ever commemorated by a Smith & Wesson handgun. This revolver left corporate custody in February of 2009, one of the last of the series. It has been exclusively in Smith & Wesson Corporate custody until we got it. Most S&W Revolvers show carbon on the face from three cylinder chambers; this one shows on two. Its only other surface detraction is faint cylinder rotation marking. We classify it as Near Mint in Box, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. We do not believe it has been test fired more than 3 times. The named model of the revolver itself, of course, comes from its ancestor, the .38 Centennial Airweight introduced in the Company's Centennial Year of 1952, a popular product descended from the experimental Air Crewman all-aluminum revolvers issued to pilots during World War II. Barrel, cylinder and parts are all stainless steel, integrated into a lightweight aluminum alloy frame, hence the 15 ounce light weight empty, down from 20-21 ounces for the steel J frame Smith & Wessons. The Centennial was introduced as a pocket revolver. Since its hammer is completely encased in the frame, there is no possibility of clothing snagging from the hammer spur. Action, then, is double action only; there is no way for the hammer to stand in single action. A distinct advantage to the Centennial is that an alarmed, armed homeowner will not be able to cock the revolver into single action when he or she hears a noise; but a steady deliberate pull of the trigger will fire the revolver with more certainty than any automatic ever produced. Smith & Wesson revolvers all have an internal transfer bar safety to guard against accidental discharge, and this 642-2 variant has the internal hammer lock, supplied with two keys, that puts it in compliance with all state laws, at least for the time being. The factory boot grips grips allow a firm hold with minimal increase of the overall height or size of the small J frame. Replacement price on these revolvers is now upwards of $600.00 in our area, if a person can even find one. We're offering the Sedlecky Special 650552, 642-2 Centennial, in the photos however, for only $ 489.00 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $10 lower 48; $30 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority Mail, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
