Description: An amazing example of a Sako L579 Forester Deluxe (pre Garcia) SN 879xx dated to 1970 in impossible to find 22-250 caliber.

Sako made two grades of this rifle and the Deluxe grade is the highest grade with much better wood, dark end cap, maple inlet butt cap and engraved trap door magazine and trigger guard.

This rifle is made in Finland and of the highest quality manufacturing, wood, steel, blue and checkering. Very slick bolts and many believe they are the best bolt actions ever made.

The Forester Deluxe features a trigger that arrives from the factory set at 2.5 kg and is easily adjusted with the turn of a screw. Detailed online manuals and schematics for this rifle are available at the Sako website. Sako owns Tika and Sako is the more high end brand.

The Sako Forester Deluxe features integral bases that are machined into the rifle. This rifle comes with the factory Sako rings and a period correct Redfield 4 to 12 variable power scope with parallax adjustment. The scope has a serial number, is made in Denver Colorado, is clear and holds Zero. The rifle has not been fired much and is as new minus a few minor handling marks.

The rifle is lightweight along the lines of a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight or Remington Model 700 Mountain Rifle. The stock has the original Sako buttpad and a Monte Carlo cheek piece which makes target acquisition in the scope very fast. The wood on this rifle is the best I have seen on a Forester Deluxe with amazing figure.

The bolt is a modified Mauser design that is highly polished and as slick as a Rem Model 700. The bolt release is an innovative button on the top of the left side of the receiver. The rifle features a two position safety that slides forward and red indicates fire. The bolt locks closed when the safety is in the "safe" position.

The hinged floor plate is nicely engraved in silver with a buck. The trigger guard is also nicely engraved. The box magazine features a latch near the trigger guard that is easy to operate.

The deluxe checkering is elaborate and sharp. The rifle comes with factory provided sling swivels. The barrel is lightweight and tapered with a world class deep blue. The Deluxe versions of the rifle did not come with front sights so the front of the barrel is as clean as a modern rifle designed for a scope.

The rifle stock is elegant and functional. The wrist area of the stock is slim and feels great in your hand.

The stampings on the rifle are crisp and the blue and wood finish are origional. Rifling is strong and chamber is mirror.

These world class rifles are no longer made and this caliber and tapered barrel configuration are rare.

This is a legacy style collector grade rifle designed to shoot like a Sako and last several lifetimes. The Redfield 4 to 12 power scope is the perfect period correct scope for this rifle and the combination looks right and performs like a dream.
