This is a VERY, VERY nice 336. Ser. # 2117XXXX puts it's date of manufacture at 1979, before Remington got their hands on them and started messing them up. I don't like using the word "mint", since we all have different ideas of what that means, but I'm comfortable calling it a 99% condition rifle. Wood and metal are about flawless - no buggered screws, no chips, cracks, or gouges, and the tiniest bit of blue wear at the sharp edge of the muzzle (99% ?). The only "flaw" (to us Marlin purists) is the rear swivel stud mounted where the Marlin "Bullseye" trademark used to be - a very easy fix if it bothers you. Unless you find a new in box older one, you'll be hard pressed to find one nicer than this.
