This listing is for the exact pistol in the photos. Here is an attractive yet somewhat scarce variant of Taurus's PT Beretta clone series. This is the PT58S chambered in .380 ACP. Manufacturer was Forjas Taurus S.A. of Porto Allegre, Brazil, manufactured on Beretta milling equipment. Original importer was Taurus International of Miami, so marked left side slide. From its KJF350000 range serial number, this PT58S was manufactured in 1990. At some point mid 1990s, it shipped from the US to the Land of Israel where it served with the Mishteret Y'Israel, the Israeli Civilian Police. Recent importer back to the US was Century Arms of Georgia, VT, and it is so marked on the frame's right side. Type is Beretta 92 style, traditional double and single action semi automatic pistol, but blowback action instead of locking breech like the 92. Construction is entirely steel metal except for the alloy frame, with alloy magazine floorplate and polymer cartridge follower. Barrel is 3 1/4 inches, with six groove right hand 1:9.84 rifling. Slide is 6 1/2 inches, with full length guide rod and serrated rear laterals. Sights are slide integral red dot front, and dovetailed black steel two white dot rear. Main safety is ambidextrous frame mounted levers that engage fully cocked, or fully resting or even at half cock. The safety does NOT serve as a decocker on this variant. The PT58S has a firing pin safety, but no magazine safety. It WILL fire single shot with no magazine. Trigger is .355 smooth faced combat type, with .300 serrated short spur hammer. Trigger pull is 1 1/4 inch travel two stage 11 pounds vicinity double action; and two stage 4 7/8 pound single action with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Magazine is original factory 12 rounder, so 12 + 1 rounds of .380 ACP caliber ammunition capacity. Magazine release is reversible for left handed shooters. Trigger guard is type two squared face, and grip frame is serrated fore and aft. Height is 5 inches; slide thickness is 1.12 inches. Weight empty is 29 ounces, centered at the breech face. Finish is entirely polished surface blue and glossy black anodized alloy, only with matte verticals on top of the slide. Grips are Brazilian Goncalo Alves with smooth glossy finish. Surface detractions are moderate to extensive, principally weathering to the slide and a small chip off the upper right grip panel. We rate this Taurus as only Good Condition, 65 to 70 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this pistol has been fired 1,000 times for qualification, no rounds at all for a Taurus PT58. This PT58 was only manufactured from 1988 through 1996. The PT58HC, discontinued in 2007, had a sticker price of $650 on taurususa com.
