Description: Extremely scarce Custer era 1872 US Cavalry Horse Shoe & brush bag (made from Civil War saddle bags). Very scarce. These bags were put together from surplus Civil War Saddle Bags. They were only issued for a short time and are very hard to find. This one is in Fine condition, with no flaking of crazing on the small bag and only modest amount of flaking and crazing at the flex point on the outer flap of the larger bag, which obviously was used more. All of the other leather retains its original black dye and is in fine condition. All straps complete, no breaks or tears. Leather thong on inside cover of large bag intact. Very clear “US” stamped on strap. I am only aware of one other one on the internet in the past month and it is no better than this one and priced at over $1,000. Very rare, this is the first time I have ever even seen one in over 30 years collecting.

I have been involved in the antique business for many years, but not specifically antique guns. However, I recently inherited my fathers gun and accessory collection, which I would like to try to sell. I hope to sell at a fair and reasonable price and have all my customers happy with what they have purchased. I don't know a great deal about some of the stuff, but I have friends and relatives who do and will help me describe them accurately.
