The pre-'64 Model 70 is considered by most to be the very best production rifle ever produced in the USA. With the controlled round feed, perfect balance, classic good looks, and rugged reliability there is little left to be desired. This gun, sn313600 built in 1954, is in superb condition with 99% factory barrel and receiver blue, 96% factory trigger plate and floor plate blue, excellent bore with strong sharp rifling, and solid factory wood with no real gouges or heavy marks. The 24" barrel has an excellent bore with crisp rifling, clear sharp lettering, factory rear sight and front sight with hood, no flaws. The action is drilled and tapped at the factory for scope mounts, no extra holes, crisp trigger, perfect screws...nice and clean. The stock measures 13 5/8" LOP to the factory steel butt plate, no cracks or repairs anywhere, factory sling swivels, excellent checkering...all in good order. These pre-64 Model 70's remain in strong demand and finding one in this nice of condition is uncommon. Model 70's in high factory original condition will still increase in value over time long as you maintain them as you enjoy their use.
