Joh. Springer is one of the finest names in Continental sporting arms creating their masterpieces in Austria's famed gun center near Vienna since 1855. Purveyors of fine firearms to the Emperor of Austria, the royal families of Monaco, Archduke Ferdinand, and many other elite sporting figures throughout Europe and Russia, the rifles and shotguns produced by Springer had no equals. This fine double rifle, sn7138 built in about 1892, is in incredible condition, with fine bores, crisp rifling, and superbly regulated to fire the famed .450 x 3 1/4 Black Powder Express round into a fist size pattern at 100 yards. This is a finely appointed rifle, with superb English scroll engraving, nicely figured French walnut stocks, perfect checkering and screws, perfect wood to metal fit, full steel tang meeting up with the decoratively engraved grip cap, engraved steel butt plate with cartridge storage, fold down leaf rear sight, German silver front sight, graceful long top strap, Jones underlever action that is tight as new, rebounding hammers, double set triggers that break like a glass rod, weighing just 7lbs. 10oz. and dynamically balanced to be steady in hand. We will include a target shot with the custom loaded ammunition that fires a 300 grain bullet at about 1750fps into 4 inch groups at 100 yards. What an awesome stalking rifle for deer, elk, hogs, or any large game you care to take. A more graceful, delicate double rifle you will not find, and being antique we can ship it to the address of your choice. We are including about 20 rounds of unfired ammunition and 20 once fired empty brass, along with the loading data for the ammo that regulates well with this rifle. The Damascus barrels are in near perfect condition and ready for another 150 years of service. The stock dimensions, shown below, are modern and very shootable. This fine Joh.
