Springfield XDm mm 3.8" w/ Hex Sights & Hex Sighted Airsoft Trainer
XDm pistol has a ported barrel and the marvelous Hex Sights created and installed and sighted by Tim Sheehan using EDM machining.
Paired with an Airsoft XDm pistol sporting identical Hex Sights, permitting limitless training opportunities, even within one's own home semi-dry-firing, using gas but without loading pellets one can go through the motions as the metal slide recoils under blow-back, it doesn't get much better than that for dry-firing practice. Include the pellets and you can use it in your garage or backyard.
The 9mm pistol has been carried for a couple few years, so the slide shows some finish wear, but looks great still. Has seen roughly several hundred rounds through it, always well cleaned. The outside of the barrel shows some copper fouling due to the porting, just haven't gone to the trouble of getting something strong enough to remove it. The barrel inside is clean and the rifling is sharp.
Both are very accurate, especially the firearm.
Hex Sights are amazing, what we should have had for the past hundred years instead of the non-instinctual, difficult and, well, silly, Patridge Sights known and unloved for well over a century.
Hex Sights are entirely instinctual, and literally require only a third of the mental and physical steps required to properly align Patridge Sights, only four versus twelve. Seemingly similar to a Ghost Ring in the rear, it is actually a large hexagon that tapers down to a smaller hexagon, creating invisible yet instinctual "lines" that cross in the center of the aperture. With very little practice this system is incredibly effective and extremely fast, eliminating most of the thinking required with modern systems. Unlike Ghost Rings, the eye is immediately drawn to the center without thought.
Hex Sights are no longer obtainable. The proprietor has gone out of business, retired I believe, and no manufacturer has yet taken up the mantle to ensure the success and wide adoption of this sighting system, which is a terrible shame.
Mr Sheehan had developed a Military adapted system based on these sights that had potential to make Marksmen out of average shooters going into harm's way. Navy Seals returning to the instruction room after their first range time on this system were remarked to have been literally giggling with delight at their best shooting scores ever.
I have listed separately a Ruger Mark III Hunter .22 with the same Hex Sights installed, listing # 986091538. I had all three Hex Sight installations done at the same time to create multiple options to train with the system. Funny thing is these are very easy systems to get used to, so I guess having all three was a spot of overkill...c'est la vie! ;)
I am only parting with these due to health issues... I'd never let these go otherwise. Still, not going to give them away. My asking prices are fair for what are very rare examples of outstanding creative genious and craftsmanship.
There is nothing that is cheap or weak about the concept, design, and its execution. These are gems that are highly functional, useful, and irreplaceable. I surely hope this sighting concept does not simply fade away, it deserves widespread availablity and use.
In any case, my offering provides a lucky someone the opportunity to own and profit from a unique piece of firearm history, worthy of daily carry and lightyears beyond anything currently available.
Both the firearm and the Airsoft will come in a Springfield Armory soft tactical case seemingly designed for these two pistols and associated gear.
There are four 19-round magazines for the 9mm, and two for the Airsoft carrying 16 6mm pellets each, uses Green Gas.
