Description: Listed for sale is an 1859 Model Sharps Carbine from the Civil war. Rifle appears to have all original parts. Bore has light pitting throughout. Good rifling. Mechanically sound. Exterior in good condition. Stock is not broken or repaired. Has Cartouches still visible. Stock has lettering which I believe was applied during the Civil War. Has what looks like FC 3IND on the left side. I researched this as best I could. In 1861 at start of the war, a cavalry regiment was formed. 3rd Indiana. They were issued 1859 Sharps Carbines. I believe this to be one of these rifles. 3rd Indiana served through many battles including Gettysburg. Good possibility this rifle saw service there.
