US Model 1896 Krag-Jorgensen Rifle by Springfield Armory, Serial #64540, based on the serial number the rifle was produced in 1897.

Additional: This is the only one I have seen that is complete with bayonet and cleaning kit.

Markings: The cartouche on the left side of the stock is still clear. Left side of barrel is stamped, "MODEL 1896.". "U.S. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY.". "64540". The graduated sight is marked with numbers the following numbers, "7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18".
Gun Condition: The wood has surface scratches and some nicks, but no deep gouges noted. Oxidation on the metal butt plate. There is a compartment in the butt which stores the cleaning kit. The bore appears gray to dark with some erosion noted. I would advise having a qualified gunsmith inspection if you are planning to shoot it. The front slide adjusts and operates flawlessly. Mechanically it seems to operate as designed. no mechanical issues noted. The metal finishing appears to be in pretty good condition with obvious surface scratches from age and wear. I did not find any rust upon inspection only minor pitting. A rare piece of history in pretty good condition.

I offer a three-day inspection period on used guns. If buyer decides to return the gun, buyer must contact me by phone within three days of picking up the gun from the receiving FFL dealer. Buyer will be responsible for return shipping costs, including insurance up to the full sales price of the gun. Once I receive the gun, I will refund the buyer's account within two business days.
