Description: A very nice and clean Stevens Model 58 bolt action shotgun, one of the most versatile and useful “utility” designs ever made. The Model 58 was made between 1948 and 1960; I have owned this particular one since 1971. It is well over 50 years old and qualifies for transfer on a C&R license. It’s a 12 gauge with a 2-3/4” chamber and a 26-inch barrel (including the factory-installed adjustable “C-Lect” choke). It has a detachable 2-round box magazine, providing a total capacity of 3 shots. There is no serial number. It is perfectly legal because shotguns were exempt from serialization before 1968. It is of course a smooth bore. The barrel is bright and shiny. The stock is in excellent shape, with very few minor handling and storage marks, no gouges, no nicks, no cracks.

Years ago I added a set of sling swivel bases; and at one time had it fitted with Williams rifle sights, so it has been drilled and tapped for those. The screw holes are filled with removable plugs should you wish to install new sights but if you want a scope on it, you’ll need to use a side mount.

I’m very reluctant to sell this gun because it has considerable sentimental value, so I'm pricing it with that in mind. I took my first two deer with it in New York State many years ago, using Foster style slugs. I've hunted with it here in Virginia many times. Unfortunately I’ve reached an age where I am forced to think about “downsizing” and “thinning the herd,” so after long hard self-debate my old friend is going up on the block. I want it to go to someone who will value it as I have for the past half-century.

If you need a shotgun for your home or cabin, one to keep behind the seat of your truck or combine; one for canoe camping or as a “loaner," this is the one you want. It may not be the fastest action, but it’s rock-solid, utterly dependable, will handle anything from slugs to #9 birdshot, it's a true “all-around” shotgun.

I can ship it to a C&R holder or an FFL dealer. If you choose to use a dealer, be CERTAIN that he understands there is no serial number and most importantly, be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN HE WILL ACCEPT IT FROM ME DIRECTLY, BECAUSE I AM NOT AN FFL holder. I will include a courtesy copy of my driver’s license in the package. If your dealer insists on it coming FROM an FFL (which the law does not require, no matter what he says) then you have three options:

1. Add $50 to the final cost (over and above shipping ) to cover my fee at this end to send it via an FFL 2. Find a dealer who understands and follows the law AS IT IS, not as he thinks it should be 3. Don’t buy this shotgun

I recommend Option #2 if you have to use a dealer.

It weighs 7-1/2 pounds unloaded. With packing, the total package will be closer to 9-10 pounds. I will ship via FEDEX Ground service. At this point I can only roughly estimate shipping cost because it depends on final weight, insurance, the cost of a special box, and distance. I don’t make money on shipping: I will let the buyer know what the shipping cost will be and provide a copy of my receipt for the service.

THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE FORM OF PAYMENT IS A USPS MONEY ORDER. NO Certifed or personal checks, NO non-USPS money orders. I have had too many people try to scam me using unbelievably well-forged "money orders" and "certifed checks.' USPS Money Orders ONLY.

Shipping Notes: I will ship via FEDEX ground to your dealer or to a C&R, at a US street address. I will include a courtesy copy of my drivers license in the package. ANY licensed dealer can receive a firearm from ANYONE thats the whole point of having an FFL.
