Most of the case hardening is gone on the receiver and on the barrels near the receiver from carrying the gun. The gun still locks up tight. It looks like the stock has been refinished a long time ago and the wood does not fit real good one spot around the receiver. The barrels are marked smokeless powder steel. The engraving of the dog on both sides of the receiver are still pronounced. There is a very slight ding on the left side of the barrel.
