When John Olin wanted to have title to the strongest side by side shotgun in the world, he went to work and got it done. The Model 21 is an American icon and its reputation is well deserved. A strikingly handsome gun with the finest steels, gunners in the know have utilized this Winchester in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure. Offered here is a true work of art, a Model 21 16 gauge built and upgraded by the Pachmayr Custom Gun Works out of Los Angeles, California. Serial number 6601, originally built in 1934, was donated by Frank and Nan Pachmayr to the Ducks Unlimited group as a fundraising tool. Frank Pachmayr was a world-famous gunsmith accredited with building fine firearms for the Hollywood elite, business moguls, and even President Ronald Regan. The workmanship was always ornate and well done, and this Model 21 is no exception. With 6 large, detailed, raised gold duck inlays, superbly chiseled bold vine and foliate scroll engraving, a 2 ½” wedge of engraving at the breach, a 1 ¼” wedge of engraving at the muzzle with gold wire accent, the engraving on this gun is extraordinary in its execution. Study the detailed background shading, the symmetry in the design, the perfect anatomy of the ducks in flight…it is amazing! Pachmayr stock makers were some of the best. The flor-de-lis carvings and the 28 LPI checkering on this gun are exemplary. This gun remains unfired since the upgrade and shows and functions as a new gun. The rare 30” IC/IM choked barrels paired with the graceful English style highly figured stock make for a stunning gun. Pachmayr is a recognized name and this is a fine, investment grade shotgun that will increase in value as you enjoy its use. It is a true example of gunmaker’s art. Thanks for looking!
