We are offering for sale a U.S. MODEL 1842 Percussion Pistol chambered in .54 caliber. This pistol is marked for H. ASTON & CO. and dated 1850. This antique pistol is in good overall condition and would make a nice addition to any antique collection.
8 1/2” barrel is good to very good with a fair, dark bore. The barrel is marked “US”, “GWH” and “P” and is dated 1847. The “US/H. ASTON”, 1850 dated lock have an overall dark plum-brown patina with moderate pitting along the barrel, heaviest at the breech, on the nipple bolster, and along the lockplate and hammer. The brass furniture has developed a nice patina without damage. The walnut stock is in good condition with numerous minor handling marks and scratches along with closed crack on the left side at the rear sideplate screw as well as a small crack on the front side of the lockplate. The cartouches very good and completely legible and the attached ramrod is original. The lock is still tight and fully functional and the pistol rates good plus-very good overall.
