Smith & Wesson Top Break .38 S&W revolver. 4" barrel. The bore is clean and non-pitted with 5 well-defined grooves. It does not appear to be "shot out" by any means. It has been in my family since new and was my great grandfather's gun. Serial #439XXX. Top strap has multiple patent dates with the last patent date being April 9, 1889. The gun looks like it was rarely, if ever, fired, and spent most of its life in various drawers. It has only what I would consider microscopic pitting. The finish of the gun is smooth, not rough as a deeply pitted gun would be. The gun has a brownish patina throughout. The grips are in perfect shape and are not in any way cracked or broken. I have just had the gun professionally cleaned and function checked by a professional gunsmith.
I am selling because I am a shooter and not a collector.
