This Winchester Model 1894, by serial number (69461), was made in 1896 (third year of production) but wasn’t shipped from the factory until October 13, 1899. By manufacture date, it is an antique, and does not need an FFL for transfer. It is a take-down model in .38-55 caliber, with standard 26” octagon barrel and crescent butt. It has had a Lyman 2A tang peep sight added, and the standard rear sight has been replaced with a Winchester three-leaf express sight.
The condition is very good with overall 75% of its original factory finish remaining. The blue is strong on barrel, magazine tube and receiver. However, the left side of the receiver shows damage from moisture resulting in some pitting. Probably from being stored on one side for a long period in a case which wasn’t completely dry. There are case colors to be seen on the lever and the mechanics are perfect. The bore is mirror bright with almost new rifling. The stocks show wear consistent with age, but retaining most of the original varnish. A Winchester letter accompanies the rifle.
