This is a 2nd Generation Colt Single Action Army revolver (serial #22460SA) made in 1958. It was converted in 1999, by Turnbull Restorations, to the configuration of a Colt made at the turn of the century. Modifications (copy of 8-page invoice included) are:
Barrel marked 44 Russian Ctg.;
Beveled cylinder;
Modified front sight;
High polish finish with DT marked under grips;
Hammer, case colored;
One-piece checkered rosewood grips, serial to gun in ink in grip strap groove;
Gentle flare on back strap, beveled heel and toe;
Serial number added to butt and trigger guard, omitting “SA”.
It is widely believed that Turnbull Restorations does one of the best, if not the best, restoration work in the industry, and this Turnbull conversion is a fine example of such work.
Pictured from left to right are three of the .44 Caliber cartridges which are suitable for this Colt. They are the .44 (Smith & Wesson) Russian, the .44 Colt and the .44 (Smith & Wesson) Special.
The holster is a very finely made, heavy leather, hand carved and goat skin lined model in perfect condition.
