Kevin Cram at Montour County Rifles recently completed this rifle for me (February 2013). While I was waiting for it to be completed, I fell into a steal of a deal on another similar rifle and bought it. Due to financial constraints and a angry significant other, I have to get rid of one of them. I have shot them both and while it was a difficult decision, I decided to sell this one.
I have receipts for all of the various parts and pieces to show both what and when I paid for it. The scope, rings and anti-cant device were sold on E Bay and are not included with the rifle.
The Action is a "Stiller Precision, TAC30, short action .308 w Stiller 20moa custom picatinny rail and lug.
The stock is a "McMillan, A3, Edge Technology" cut for "Williams" bottom metal. It has a 13.5 LOP and a "Seekins" picatinney rail under the forearm (necessary for the bipod mount.) It is the highest priced and lightest technology available on McMillans stocks.
The trigger is an adjustable Shilen, the bottom metal is an awesome Williams dropaway floorplate that is fit like a swiss watch, a real thing of beauty! The bipod is Harris with a Larue QD fitting.
Kevin Cram, a great guy and an awesome gunsmith did the following work to put the parts and pieces together to form this awesome rifle:
Purchased and cut the "Brux" 1 in 12 twist barrel to 18", it is the Remington Varmint contour. Chambered for .308 Winchester, cut the crown and threaded the end of the barrel to 5/8 X 24. The thread protector and Levang compensator will both ship with the rifle. The McMillan was pillar bedded and the stainless steel barrel was "cerakoted" graphite black to match the rest of the rifle.
The rifle has a Wyatts CFE-5 mag well. It will hold three rounds in the magwell and feed smoothly.
As I mentioned earlier, the scope, rings, anti-cant device pictured on the rifle are NOT included. This ad is for the rifle, everything on the rifle such as bipod, picatinny mounts, Larue QD etc. Just NOT the scope, rings or anti-cant.
With nearly any factory ammo, it will shoot much less than moa. With my handloads, I have shot several 5 shot groups at 200 yds measuring less than an inch. A better shooter or a more solid rest would produce even better results. There are less than 200 rds fired through this rifle.
I have receipts less than a year old totaling near $3500 for this rig. If you are looking for a true custom rifle in .308 this would be a great opportunity to save some money.
