Barrel is 29 inches long with pedestal-mounted bead front sight, sling hook loop and island rear sight with one standing (marked 50) and four folders (marked respectively 100/200/300/400). Modern restock with a spectacular matching 2-piece blank. Weight is 9.8 pounds and LOP is 14 5/8 over pad. Later full-coverage engraving by the late Ken Warren (signed on trigger guard), it features deep relief game scenes on each side with bordering scroll that extends over lever, the length of the tang, onto the barrel and around each sight base. Serial is 67915. Barrel markings include "R.B. Rodda & Co., Birminghan & Calcutta", "400 EX" and "Cordite 55 - 400 Max". Per gunsmith examination, it is chambered for 3-inch case with bore diameter of .408 (per cast) and bore scope shows some pitting and washing/wear in the chamber area that extends into the bore. Condition as refinished: Metal exhibits some light pitting, most particularly in line where the forend meets the barrel and to a lesser extend on the crown, along with some light discoloration within the engraved areas. Wood is nearly 100%. Provenance and history: donated to the Boone and Crockett Club by Emeritus Member Mr. Robert Marcotte and featured in the Boone & Crockett Club's Records of North American Big Game, 12th Edition (page 135) as published in 2005.
