This listing is for the exact pistol in the photos. From its exclusive West Tennessee family of ownership comes this .22 Rimfire Single-Action Target Pistol, numbered model 46. Manufacturer was Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA, under Bangor Punta Corporate ownership. From its 26000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1962. The 46 was an economy version of the 41. Construction is entirely steel metal, with two piece composite grips. Barrel is 7 inches, with 5 groove right hand 1:16 rifling. Upper slide is full length steel, and supports a ramped partridge front sight, with matte surface top track leading to a windage and elevation adjustable, black blade rear. Lower slide matches frame length, with 9 lateral serrations. Trigger guard serves as disssembly lever. Safety, magazine release, and slide release are left side extended, for right handed shooters. The 46 is not a southpaw friendly device. Grips are original polymer composite, palmswell type with lower checkering. Magazine is factory original 10 rounds, so 10 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Dimensions are 11 inches long by 5 3/8 inches height, with .855 inch lower slide thickness; and 1.58 inches grips thickness. Weight empty is 42 ounces, balanced at the trigger. Trigger is .437 width serrated face, pulls at a crisp original 2 1/8 pounds with negligible felt creep and moderate overtravel. Finish is brushed surface blued, with matte sight area, and with glossy grip finish. Surface detractions are minimal. We rate this 46 as Excellent Condition, 95 to 98 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore and mechanism are bright and clean, we estimate this 46 was fired fewer than 500 rounds.
