Description: Here is a nice mixed parts shooter M1 Garand. Receiver is Springfield Armory, six digit serial number 705635, made early in WW2, in July 1942. Barrel is Springfield dated February 1956 with a good bore. No import marks.

This rifle is in very good used condition. Marked parts are Springfield, although some are postwar. All parts are described below and shown in photos. Stock is new walnut.

This M1 has been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and test fired. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.

Two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo) and a repro canvas sling are included.

SA M1 sn 705635 Specs:

Receiver: marked “D 28291-17” on leg, heat lot C11O. VG condition, not original finish. Minor pitting on the horizontal surface that contacts wood, none on the legs, see photos. This is under the parkerizing, and will not get worse.

Barrel: marked “F6535448 2 56 A226A” in op rod slot, with two “P” marks, “T”, “M”, and small stars and eagle stamp. Bore is bright, exc crown and rifling.

Barrel Gauge Measurements: Muzzle Wear (MW): 1, Throat Erosion (TE): 4

Clip latch: late square front type.

Op rod: curved side, marked “D35382 6 SA”, modified. Excellent condition, no pitting, some finish wear. Op rod and bolt cycle freely by tilting when everything is assembled except main spring and hammer (Garands with binding or rubbing op rods tend to have feeding and/or ejecting problems).

Op rod catch: late type, unmarked

Bullet guide: milled WWII type

Follower: late type, marked “11”

Follower arm: single bevel WWII type, hammer forge mark “2”

Follower rod: long fork, riveted

Bolt: marked “D28287-12SA S-A1”

Sight knobs: elevation “WCE”, windage “DRC”

Rear sight cover: late type with ribs

Rear sight aperture: double track

Trigger housing: marked “D28290-1 SA”. Good condition, minor pitting where floorplate edges contact wood.

Trigger guard: stamped with milled hook

Trigger: late type, no extra hole

Hammer: marked “C46008-3 SA”

Hammer spring plunger: late type without wings

Safety: round top, marked “SA_11”

Gas cylinder: narrow sight platform, flat on top of rear ring. Gas cylinder group has been refinished. The gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.

Front sight: 0.67 wide, unmarked

Gas cylinder lock: beveled front type, unmarked

Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type, marked “O”

Stock and handguards: walnut, new, nice finish

Sling: new repro
