This wonderful Python has standard markings and features, including a fixed front sight, adjustable rear sight, wide checkered hammer, ribbed trigger and 100% checkered walnut grips with gold finish Colt medallions. The Colt Python is known for quality and precision. It has a reputation for being “the finest production revolver ever made”. This Python example retains the highly polished, deep blue finish with a light cylinder drag line. The grips appear new with light handling marks and sharp checkering. Colt wood grained replacement box is new with end label serialized to the revolver. Complete with owner’s manual and papers. We believe this Python was fired after leaving the factory. See the image of the cylinder face for faint powder rings. The rear of the cylinder has a couple of spots of pitting on the surface of the cylinder wall. We believe the cause of the pitting was corrected and the area re-blued. The pitting remains visible as a disturbed surface under the bluing. See the photo of the cylinder rear view and look at the area at the 12 o’clock position. Then see the following image for a closer view. Despite the pitting, which could be corrected if desired, the pistol with its 2.5 inch vent ribbed barrel is still difficult to find as nice as this one is.
