It has a 24” light contour barrel made from Bohler Spezial steel, at the time the finest barrel steel money could buy. The action is the original 98 Mauser design with “C” cut receiver ring, a thumb cut for loading the magazine and what is commonly called a "Butterknife" style bolt handle. The Swarovski Habicht 4X scope with Duplex reticle is mounted in a Recknagle claw mount which is very close fit, free from any wiggle or wobble and locks up tight. The rifle has open sights and set triggers. The original walnut stock has a LOP of 14" to the front trigger, is free from any cracks or damage, and the original finish is still in excellent condition. The top of the barrel is marked "Waffen Dschulnigg, Salzburg, Austria" and "Bohler Spezial" is stamped on the barrel near the receiver. Dschulnigg is now one of the most renowned custom firearm manufacturers in Europe. According to sources on the internet, the British Royal Family buys many of its firearms from Dschulnigg. While this rifle is certainly not in their class, it has many features you only find on the very best guns: the action and tang screw heads are engraved, and clocked so all their slots line up with the barrel; the tops of the claw mounts and rear sight base are also engraved; the metal appears to be rust blued rather than hot dipped, and is still in superb condition; and the stock is a very slim design radically reduces the overall weight of the rifle. It weighs 7 lbs. 2 oz. w/o scope and 8 lbs. with the scope. This gun has been shot very little. The wear on the bolt face is minimal, and it appears the gun was properly maintained over the years. The wood below the stock line is clean and dry, a clear sign of good maintenance. This gun will give its new owner years of superb service, and do it in style.
