Here is the current production, semi automatic descendant of the 1927A1 Thompson Machine Gun, the T1 Deluxe variant. Manufacturer is Auto Ordnance Corp., of Kingston, NY. Warrantor is Kahr Arms service department in Worcester, MA. Type is closed bolt semi automatic carbine. Construction is entirely milled steel metal and American Walnut. Chambering is .45 ACP caliber, and the factory recommends factory loaded, mil-spec brass case 230 grain FMC ammunition only. Barrel is 16 1/2 inch, six groove right hand 1:16 rifling, with correct factory muzzle 4 slot brake / sight assembly. Outside diameter tapers from .670 behind the collar area to .792 at the first fin recess, then continues through all 36 spiral milled fins to .98 at the barrel receiver junction. Sight system is blade front with sight slot operating handle, to wing protected blue steel notch plate rear, with military calibrated aperture flip up sight, elevation to 600 yard point. Receiver is two piece, correctly marked serialized upper. Safety is left side two position 180 degree lever. Trigger is .400 smooth steel face, and the photo specimen pulled at 13 pounds vicinity with moderate felt creep and overtravel. Magazine release is original half moon type, and factory issue 30 shot stick type magazine is included. Receiver will accept a factory or military issue drum magazine. Forend is vertical type finger grooved walnut, with matching walnut pistol grip, and matching plain oil finish buttstock with permanent steel swivel and steel buttplate. Distance from the trigger face to the end of the buttstock is 17 inches; buttstock drop is 5 inches at the heel, with a 1 inch right hand cant. Weight empty is 12 pounds 3 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Each 1927A1 comes in its factory Thompson / Chicago Typewriter foam lined plastic case with owner’s manual, Massachusetts AG warning card, factory registration card, parts sheet, and Kahr Arms tommygunstore booklet.
