Description: This piece of history was manufactured in 1878 and was shipped to the U.S. Army on September 25, 1878. It was ordnance sub-inspected by Henry Nettletton and his initials are found all various parts throughout the revolver. On the butt of the gun you will notice the initials USSTNYC. Not sure if the revolver was sent to the U.S. Marshalls Office or the US Sub Treasury New York City.

You will also find on page 322 of John Kopec's book "The Study Of The Colt Single Action Army Revolver" that this revolver 47414 as being one of the very few guns in the Herny Nettletton series because of over sight by Captian John E Greer to leave the Colt factory without the frame stamp U.S. John Kopec's Book included with sale
