Description: Colt Lightning Carbine Medium Frame, .44-40 WCF caliber. This Colt dates to the first year of manufacture (1884) according to the serial number (R.L. Wilson's Colts Dates of Manufacture). The carbine has a 20 inch barrel and a shorter magazine tube than the Colt Lightning rifle. It appears that this firearm was refinished at some point in it's life. The Colt inscription on the top of the barrel is almost gone. The stock has been repaired and there are a couple of cracks visible. The bore is very dirty but has strong rifling. Overall a nice early Colt rifle.
