Serial 1191XX My Colt letter states that it was shipped to the US Army as part of a 250 gun shipment on January 18, 1887.The government inspector was DFC( David F. Clark). The letter also states that the barrel length, and type of stocks are not listed ,but a 7 1/2" barrel and walnut stocks were standard for this time period. That barrel length and walnut stocks are on this gun. All the numbers match, but the barrel. This gun went back to Colt in 1949(as told to me by the guns third owner)because the front sight was missing and it came back with a later 1st. generation barrel and ejector. I have no paper work on this repair. The story that I was told was that the revolver was issued to a fellow in the Army and he kept it after his service and later passed it on to his nephew. The old timer I got the gun from purchased it from the nephew in Alaska sometime in the 40's. I've had it for the past 30 plus years or so.More pictures are available by e-mail. Offers considered.
