Many of us in the rural South learned what a CZ75 was from this pistol's full sized version, the TA90. Manufacturer was Fratelli Tanfoglio S.N.C. of Gardone Val Trompa, Italy. From its Italian date code, it was manufactured in 1990, and shipped out to the Land of Israel where it served as a trainer for Israeli civilians and for the Mishteret Y'Israel, the Israeli Civilian Police, attest the Combat Shooting Cohai marking on its left side. It is Tanfoglio Stock I class pistol, or EAA Witness class. Construction is entirely steel metal, with Italian walnut grips. Type is CZ design, hammer traditional double and single action locked breech semi automatic pistol. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 3.5 inch Chrome plated and lined, conventional six groove right hand 1:9.84 rifling, and this pistol has always digested any kind of ammunition from lead nose reloads to steel case Russian to Federal Premium. Guide rod is chrome plated full length steel. Slide is rear serration steel, with full length frame contact. Sights are frame integral dot front on solid rib, with dovetailed two dot rear is drift adjustable only for windage. Trigger is .325 smooth face chrome plated steel, with matching blued serrated spur hammer. Hammer is 3 position, and the left side mounted, right hand shooter safety lever engages on all 3, but does not decock the pistol. The TA90 has a firing pin safety but no magazine safety: it will fire single shot with no magazine. Double action trigger pull is 12 pound vicinity with 1 1/8 inch of travel. Single Action pulls two stage at 4 pounds with minimal felt creep and moderate overtravel. Magazine release is reversible, and ambidextrous safeties are commonly available. Magazine is a Mec-Gar, CZ75 Compact, 14 rounder, total fully loaded capacity 14+1 rounds. This pistol will accept any full sized CZ75 Magazine; the full sized mags, however, will protrude from the grip frame on this compact pistol. Overall length is 7 1/8 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame strut, with 5 1/8 inches height. Frame thickness is 1.21 inches at its widest, at the ejection port; but the grips are only 1.35 inch thick below the panel risers. Weight empty is 32 1/2 ounces with center of gravity at the breech face. Apart from the barrel and trigger, surfaces are polished finish blued steel. Surface detractions on this Tanfoglio are moderate, principally a piece missing off the butt edge of the left grip panel. Apart from that, it shows freckling on its grip frame, scouring on its grips, and occasional edge wear. We rate this Pistol as Very Good, 75 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 1000 times, no rounds at all for a TA90.
