From reserve Law Enforcement duty in the Land of Israel comes this limited edition Mossad Commemorative pistol. Manufacturer was Fratelli Tanfoglio S.N.C. of Gardone Val Trompa, Italy. It lacks an Italian date code, but its number indicated a 1991 production date from similarly numbered coded pistols we've had over the years. Importer and exclusive distributor was a now defunct Israeli firm, Weapons House Ltd., probably in Hadera at the time. Standard production model was TA90, but this specimen will have to go by its special edition model name Mossad, in honor of the Israeli Intelligence Agency.. It is Tanfoglio Stock I class pistol, or EAA Witness class. US Importer marking is stamped right side frame above the grip panel. Construction is entirely steel metal, with Hogue Rubber grips. Type is CZ design, hammer traditional double and single action locked breech semi automatic pistol. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 4.5 inch Chrome plated and lined, conventional six groove right hand 1:9.84 rifling, and this pistol has always digested any kind of ammunition from lead nose reloads to steel case Russian to Federal Premium. Guide rod is chrome plated full length steel. Slide is rear serration steel, with full length frame contact. Sights are slide integral front on solid rib, with dovetailed black rear is drift adjustable only for windage. Trigger is .325 smooth face chrome plated steel, with matching blued commander type hammer. Hammer is 3 position, and the left side mounted, right hand shooter safety lever engages on all 3, but does not decock the pistol. The TA90 has a firing pin safety but no magazine safety: it will fire single shot with no magazine. Double action trigger pull is 12 pound vicinity with 1 1/8 inch of travel. Single Action pulls two stage at 4 pounds with minimal felt creep and moderate overtravel. Magazine release is reversible, and ambidextrous safeties are commonly available. Magazine is unmarked factory Tanfoglio 15 rounder with custom alloy floor plate, total fully loaded capacity 15+1 rounds. This pistol will accept any CZ75 Magazine. Overall length is 7 3/8 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame strut, with 5 5/8 inches height. Frame thickness is 1.21 inches at its widest, at the ejection port; but the grips are only 1.29 inch thick below the panel risers. Weight empty is 35 1/2 ounces with center of gravity at the breech face. Slide, barrel, frame, guide rod, and trigger are all brushed surface hard chrome, and 1988 was the first year in this finish. Levers, hammer, release, and rear sight are blue finish. Surface detractions on this Tanfoglio are only moderate, light holster or handling streaks that do not penetrate the finish. We rate this Pistol as Very Good, 80 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 1000 times, no rounds at all for a Stock I.
