Description: Introduced in 1959, the Smith & Wesson K-22 Masterpiece Magnum Rimfire, numbered model 48, was always coveted but never, ever plentiful. For one thing, lay people never understood why Smith & Wesson couldn’t make a double action convertible like the interchangeable Ruger Single Six was. Those same folk, of course, never understood the difference in bullet and bore diameters between the Long Rifle and Magnum. Smith & Wesson offered long rifle cylinders for many years as an option, but discontinued the 48 in 1986. Photo specimen is one of only a few of the recently produced Classic series. This variant, 7th Engineering change, has the classic tapered medium barrel, but has the post 1995 strengthened magnum K frame. Barrel is 6 inch with serrated solid rib; pinned in High Partridge front sight with windage and elevation adjustable white outline rear sight. Frame top strap is drilled for scope mounting. Hammer is flat faced against a floating firing pin, serrated spur .500 Target width. Trigger is .312 smooth faced combat type; and hammer and trigger are both MIM case colored. Grips are factory diamond pattern cut checkered exotic hardwood with left panel recessed for a 22K 6 shot speedloader. Caliber, of course, is .22 Winchester Magnum. Cylinder capacity is 6 cartridges. Weight empty is 40 ounces, with center of gravity under the yoke screw. Finish is traditional blued steel, with 10 groove serrated back strap. It is a lock variant, as the photos show, with a factory internal lock. This revolver came from a brief career as a factory showgirl, possibly one of the specimens on display at the 2012 SHOT show. From its CRW serial number prefix, it was probably manufactured in late 2011. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint carbon deposits and streaking on the cylinder face, and cylinder rotation marking. We classify it as Excellent, perhaps Near Mint, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is certainly excellent mechanically; bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. We estimate it has been fired fewer than 20 times. It comes with a new factory blue case, instruction manual, two keys for its lock, and a never executed factory registration card. Replacement pricing on the 48-7 Classic in our area is upwards of $1000, and there simply aren’t any. Mint condition 48-4s command prices well over $1000 apiece. We’re offering the 48-7 in the photos, however, for only $ 759.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, the District of Colombia, or Massachusetts.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $15 lower 48; $40 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority, insured with Delivery Confirmation. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
