Manufacturer was Aldo Uberti S.R.L. of Gardone Val Trompa, Italy. Importer is Benelli USA of Accokeek, Maryland. Type is tube magazine fed, lever action repeating carbine, built upon John M. Browning's 1873 Winchester design. Construction is entirely steel metal, with Italian Walnut stock and forend. Barrel is 20 inch Octagonal, with 6 groove .004 deep, right hand 1:16 rifling. Outside diameter tapers from .860 at the breech to .725 at the muzzle. Sights are 3/8 inch dovetailed front and rear, 1 piece steel base & blade front, with push elevator buckhorn style rear. Magazine tube is full length, holds 10 rounds of .45 Colt Black Powder equivalent ammunition, so 10 + 1 Fully loaded capacity. This rifle's action was never designed for smokeless powder, so owners should use ammunition like Buffalo Arms's AMOGX45LC. Trigger is .350 smooth faced, with matching long spur hammer. Trigger pull is on a single stage original very light crisp 3 3/4 ounces with no felt creep and minimal overtravel. Forend is cut checkered walnut with steel cap; buttstock has cut checkering on its pistol grip area. Length of pull is 13 inches, with a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch drop, and 3/4 inch right hand cant. Overall length is 39 inches, and weight empty is 7 pounds 6 ounces, centered at the breech face. Finish is satin walnut, polished surface blued barrel and loading gate; and color casehardened forend cap, receiver, lever, trigger, and hammer. Surface detractions on this 1873 are moderate, principally a 3/4 inch non original recoil pad instead of the buttplate, with stress to the lower tang screw and three mars on the under side tang. Apart from that, it has only a small press on the left side of the forend, and locking wear to the lever lock. We rate this Uberti as Excellent but altered, 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean, we do not believe this rifle was ever loaded or fired. It comes in an overlabeled Tikka box with protective papers, copied owner's manual, and Beretta Y Grade certificate dated from 2010 that specifies a 60 day factory warranty from the date the buyer picks the rifle up from the transfer dealer.
