This unit features a flat top receiver, 19.5" stainless steel barrel, free float composite hand guard. Barrel is threaded 3/4-28tpi. Ships with one 10 round and 26 round magazine, will fit on any mil spec lower receiver. Weight of upper is 5.0lbs. The barrel is stainless steel, fully lapped 6 groove right hand 1 in 9 twists with 3/4-28tpi threading to accommodate a flash hider, that comes with upper. To achieve the desired level of accuracy, Alexander Arms uses the finest components to build the Grendel. One cannot simply slap a 6.5mm barrel on any AR-15 and achieve a high level of competitive accuracy. The Alexander Arms Grendel rifles use Lothar Walther hand-lapped stainless barrels that are carefully chambered, throated, crowned, and fitted to the upper receiver. Even the throat is specially cut and lapped for increased accuracy. Alexander uses a special deburring tool to carefully trim the gas port where it engages the bore to limit any bullet distortion as it passes. This allows the 6.5 Grendel to utilize the long, sleek bullets that slip through the air so well to accurately hit distant target. Another thing that I noticed about the Grendel is that the efficient little jewel is relatively quiet, as far as center fire hunting rifles go.
