Manufacturer is Fabbrica d’Armi Pietro Beretta S.p.A. of Gardone, Italy. From its AC Italian Date Code, it was manufactured in 1977, part of a Production Run that extended from the 1950s until 1985. Importer was Berben Corp. of New York, who filled the interval between Garcia and Beretta USA itself. The 70S is a close successor to the original 1934 Beretta military pistol. Type is blowback single action semi automatic pistol. Construction is entirely steel metal; Magazine follower, floorplate and grips are all black polymer. Barrel is 3 3/8 inches, with six groove right hand 1:9.84 rifling. Sights are classic Beretta slide-integral blade front sight with dovetailed steel notch rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Safety is left side mounted, for a right handed shooter, and safety will engage with the hammer in its half cock position or fully cocked, but not with hammer at rest. The 70S also has a magazine safety; it will Not fire single shot with no magazine. Magazine is steel with polymer finger rest; capacity is 7 rounds of .380 ACP Ammunition. so 7+1 fully loaded capacity. Release is European style on the left side butt area. Trigger is .222 serrated faced, with a .250 serrated Euro style hammer. Trigger pulls two stage at 7 3/4 pounds with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Weight is 23 3/4 ounces, centered at the breech face. Overall length is 6 inches, with 4 1/2 inches height. Slide thickness is .856 inch. Finish is brushed surface blued steel.
