The Colt 38 Special Kit, also known as the Gil Hebard Model, was produced between 1964 and 1970. It is basically an 38 AMU with a different slide marking, but just over 400 were produced in 38 wadcutter. They were produced on order from (noted target pistol dealer) Gil Hebard. They had no sights from the factory, but the hammer, trigger, and grips were factory installed. All the other major parts were shipped separately in the box. It was left up to the buyer to have his gunsmith of choice install sights and assemble the pistol. Serial #’s started at 00100-H. This one was produced in 1965 (serial # 004XX-H) and was probably completed at “Giles 45 Shop” in Odesa Florida, as that is what is stamped on the Bo-Mar style sight rib. --UPDATE-- It has been bought to my attention that Bo-Mar did not create this style of sight rib, rather Giles was one of the original. But Giles would not sell his sight ribs, you had to have him install it for you, so Bo-Mar copied it and sold it as an accessory. Thank you #9314690227 for educating me. (The day you don't learn something new, is the day you die.)

This gun is in excellent condition, with the only signs of major wear being on the grip safety and mainspring housing. It also has a trigger shoe installed and an over travel screw added to the trigger.

NOTE – The trigger has been worked for a bullseye shooter. The hammer will follow the slide and catch in the safety notch when the slide is dropped unless you hold the trigger to the rear or lower the slide slowly.
