Description: Highly desirable and sought after example of the High Standard magazine fed, semi-automatic .22LR target pistol known as THE VICTOR. Manufactured in HAMDEN, CONN in 1976. One of approximately 86000 with ML pre-fixes.

This example has been used by its previous owner but is in excellent functional condition with some handling marks on the metal, primarily on the left side of the barrel as shown in the photos, and a few indentations on the beautifully figured grips. The bluing scratches can be reduced if desired for cosmetic reasons.

Features include: micrometer rear sight adjustable for elevation and windage; fixed front sight; factory original barrel weight; stippled front and rear grip straps; factory original single-stack magazine (10 round capacity) stamped “HS” on right side of base; slab sided 5.5 inch barrel integrated with slab sided, solid rib sight ramp and slab sided factory barrel weight; highly figured zebra wood grips with a golden finish; left grip panel incorporates a thumb rest for right handed shooters; push button barrel release. Extra, non-factory Brownell’s magazine.

Barrel and frame stampings include: “THE VICTOR” and “.22 LONG RIFLE” (high-lighted in gold) in two lines on the left side of the barrel; “HIGH STANDARD MFG. CORP.” & HAMDEN CONN. U.S.A.” (high-lighted in gold) in two lines on right side of barrel; “-----HIGH-----“ & “STANDARD” in two lines on left side of slide.

Metal is blued except for gold tone finish on trigger, safety and magazine release.

Given a $270 purchase price for THE VICTOR in 1976, the inflation adjusted value for the same pistol (in its factory new condition) would be approximately $1200. Given the scarcity and desirability of this HAMDEN Victor model, today’s value is in the eye of the potential collector/shooter. Serial Number: ML 16041
