Tony Galazan and his Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company is the King of the Model 21 world. First having "AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER" status, then buying out U.S. Repeating Arms of all their inventory and completing Model 21 guns with said inventory, to becoming the sole builder of the famous Model 21 in his own factory, CSMC has earned its reputation for building Winchester’s Model 21 in all its glory. CSMC has created numerous Model 21 guns that would be considered the finest examples of gun art, with incredible engraving and inlays. However, the bulk of the #6 engraved guns, or PIGEON GRADES, have rather simplistic engraving lacking detail in the scroll work and dog images, and lacking depth throughout. Occasionally one of the earlier CSMC Model 21 guns surfaces with truly stunning engraving, having the depth of cuts, the details and background shading in the scroll work, and detailed, deep-relief engraved dogs as part of their motif. THIS PAIR HAS THE BEST NUMBER 6 ENGRAVING YOU WILL FIND ON A CSMC MODEL 21…TRULY MASTERFUL. In fact, these guns are engraved with much more detail than any of the late guns that came out of USRAC in the last 10 years of Winchester production. This pair of Pigeon Grade 16ga. guns, serial numbered W38190 and W38191, were built as a true pair with 30” ventilated rib barrels, matched in every way, including weight, balance, and dimensions. Cased in a custom-fit oak and leather case with accessories and trade label, this is a stunning and useful set of Model 21 guns in the very useful 16-gauge chambering. The wood is gorgeous, fully figured exhibition walnut, with Deluxe style checkering that is in superb condition, having no cracks or repairs. The guns have been hunted and display very few minor handling marks in the wood. The barrels, action, trigger guard, and forend iron retains 99.5% of the original blue with little-to-no handling marks or wear. The guns are mechanically perfect in all ways and the excellent shooting dimensions including long LOP’s. See the specifications below for all the details, but both guns have LM/F chokes, have the same stock dimensions, and, remarkably, are balanced precisely at the same point.
