Here is the current, state-of-the-art form of the Classic Colt 1911 Government model that retains the traditional look and balance of Jonathan Browning's invention with updates that maintain its status as the leader in combat handgunning. This is the classic 5 inch barrel all-steel Colt M1991A1, catalog #O1091, .45 ACP. It's entirely stainless steel, 8 ½ inches overall length, classic spur hammer, aluminum combat trigger, 3-dot sights, with Colt double Diamond Rosewood grips. Both grip safety and thumb safety are standard configuration. Aluminum, not plastic, trigger is standard, and all 1991 series Colts, this one included, come with beveled magazine well and two 7 + 1 capacity magazines. Finish, as the photos show, is matte stainless with brushed stainless side features. We sold this one in December of 2008, and its owner traded it in on a Stainless Series 70, the one he really wanted to begin with. This one has been fired fewer than 100 rounds. Its only surface detraction is a faint streak from the slide stop down toward the trigger where its owner let the slide stop contact the frame during disassembly. It is otherwise mint or near mint, in its original box with all its papers and extra magazine. A word about the competition to single actions autos.
