General Specifications: Emil Flues, Buffalo, N.Y., 1920's,16 Gauge, 7 lbs 6 oz

Emil Flues was a gunmaker, inventor, and patent holder of firearms. He was an outside contractor with Ithaca Gun Co., later having his own shop in Buffalo, NY. The Ithaca Flues Model double shotgun was his sake and Ithaca’s most successful shotgun, selling over 230,000 before the NID came into production. This is an interesting gun. First, it had to be one of America’s first over/under guns. The Browning Superposed and Remington 32 are known to be the earliest production O/U’s, not coming to market until the 1920’s. With RUDOLPH KORNBRATH deep relief engraving, solid rib, 16 gauge barrels with no center rib, DOUBLE TRIGGER, and serial number 35, this is a collector/shooter’s dream. A solid and interesting gun with a Kirsten cross bolt system and nicely balanced, she will make a very interesting and beautiful gun for your upland and clays pursuits.

The 28” barrels retain 98% blue, choked IC/M (.007/.016, can be altered to your specs for $90 per barrel), 2 ¾” chambers, mirror bores, bore diameter .655, minimum barrel wall thickness 40 thou both barrels, solid top rib, no center ribs, no dents or dings, double ivory beads, ejectors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin, very healthy barrels!

The actions is Rudolph Kornbrath engraved, action tight on face, about 30% fading case color, excellent screws, double triggers, trigger guard fully extended to pistol grip cap, ejectors work well, all mechanics are in excellent order.

The original wood is in excellent condition overall, with a capped pistol grip butt stock complete with cheek piece, sling stud shown in the photos has been removed and hole professionally repaired and is now near invisible, the forearm wood is 3 piece style forend and is narrow and feels very nice in hand, checkering is excellent overall, MUSHROOMED PAD CAN BE REPLACED TO A PAD OF YOUR CHOICE IF YOU DON’T WANT THE ORIGINAL PAD ON THE GUN, LOP to end of wood is 13 ½”, to end of pad 14 ½”, drop at heel 2 ¼”, drop at comb 1 1/2” for great modern dimensions, neutral cast, all very sound.

This delightful gun weighs in at 7lbs. 6oz. and balances dead on the hinge pin. Originally owned by Albert Spalding, then sold to the father of my consignor, it is a very collectible and shootable vintage shotgun and as such will make a grand investment vehicle for your hard earned money. The engraving and metal work, the design features, and the rarity make this a very interesting gun.

There are more photos upon request. We offer a 30 day mechanical warranty on this fine shotgun. PLEASE SEE MY OTHER FINE VINTAGE FIREARMS ON THIS .
