Once it arrived, I decided that the standard laminated stock had 2 major faults. First it is just too heavy. Second, the grip area is way too fat. I replaced the laminated stock with a black Bell and Carlson Duramaxx Stock. I also installed Weaver style scope bases. Just as I was finishing this project, I chanced upon a Winchester Model 70 pre '64 Varmint Rifle in 243 and bought it. That's why this new Savage is for sale. The rifle includes the original box and papers, but not the original laminated stock.
