Description:
Fantastic light weight field gun from 1907, when Elsies were at their best. Barrels are 12ga., 28”, SK/IM (.007/.032) chokes, 2 ¾” chambers, 100% blue (rust blued), ejectors, no dents, good bores, barrels ring true. Receiver is regular weight (not feather weight), strong sharp engraving, 98% case color (fading), action tight on face and hinge, lever right of center, double triggers with excellent feel, trigger guard 98%, very good screws, fantastic early game scene engraving. Wood is nicely figured, 100% restored with recut checkering, perfect wood to metal fit, 14 ¼” LOP to original butt plate, 2 3/16” drop at heel, 1 3/8” drop at comb. The early Grade 3E guns are rarely seen, and this one is spectacular. It is a 6lb. 15oz. field gun with very desirable modern dimensions, and balances dynamically in your hands. This is a rare opportunity to own a L.C. Smith that looks almost new, is mechanically perfect, and is perfect for ducks over decoys, pheasant, clays, or late season grouse.
