This is an old .45 caliber muzzleloader. The barrel is marked: J.H. Thomas Co. Louisville, KY. The stock is inscribed : C.G. Clarkes 1880. There was something engraved on the sideplate at one time, but it is no longer legible.
Gun has a 35 inch barre and double set triggers. It is 51 inches from muzzle to tip of butt. Triggers and main spring seem to be good and functional. Ram rod looks to be homemade and extends past the muzzle by a couple of inches. Wood is good, has a crack at the tip of fore end that runs 1.5 inches.
A neat old Kentucky made rifle.
