Single-shot, percussion-fired, breech-loader, lever-operated, Martini-style breech-bolt, trigger-style lever lock. The barrel is 20”, part round, part octagonal. Bore is VG+. Long-base rear sight, adjustable to 900 yards. Long, serpentine side-hammer. LOP 14 ½”. Very solid stock. Numerous small dings and scratches. No visible cartouche, but inspector’s letter stamps on various parts. Metal is mainly brown; a small amount of case coloring remains on the lock plate. The serial number is marked on the toe of the butt plate, bottom of breech bolt, frame and barrel. Also on bottom of barrel is “25.” On the lock plate: “Gwyn & Campbell / patent 1862 / Hamilton D.” On the frame, forward of the lock plate is “Union Rifle.” NRA Antique’s condition: Very Good+.
