Description: According to Supica’s and Nahas’s serialization, this BFY9xxx Model 65-5 was manufactured in early 1991. We consider it to be in Very Good, perhaps even Excellent Condition. It has moderate holster buffing on the holster contact points. There is mild, small holster scouring on the right side plate that affects perhaps 20 percent of that part’s area; and there is a narrow screwdriver scratch adjacent to the forward side plate screw. This revolver, after all, spent its brief career protecting the good citizens of our Sister State of North Carolina, and it was annually serviced internally by factory trained armorers with the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Grips are new replacement Hogue Bantams. Lateral movement or wobble effect to the cylinder is only moderate, about 1mm total both with the trigger relaxed and with it pulled. Double action trigger pull is consistent, but slightly rough at the break point. The hammer travels an additional 10 degrees or so after the cylinder times into place on double action. Single action trigger pull is a light crisp 3 5/8 pounds, and the hammer travels about 25 degrees after the cylinder locks in single action mode. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a near-optimal, tight .007. We rate this revolver at 85 to 90 percent finishwise, but we have included sufficient photography for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. This revolver has been cleaned at the Smith & Wesson factory and re-test fired. The topstrap above the forcing cone is only slightly marked from magnum blast, very shallow marking, and it extends for about half the width of the topstrap or less. It comes in a factory generic brown box with the appropriate bar-coded label. Own this nice, solid 65-5 for only $ 479.95
