They can be sealed with polyurethane if the buyer would like them that way. The Nazi swastikas and supports are chrome plated. The connecting center piece is made of aluminum with a brushed satin finish. It isn't plated so it can be engraved if so desired. The front support cradles the rear barrel band where the sling slips thru to keep it from tipping from side to side. The trigger guard rests in the rear support. This was made to fit a German K98k Mauser exactly but I would imagine it would fit any other Mauser that has the same distance between the trigger guard & the rear barrel band as a K98 and uses the same type barrel band.
