Winchester Model 1886 takedown rifle with 24-inch round barrel chambered in .33 Winchester. Serial number 159767A. The bore rates very good with strong rifling. Half length magazine tube. Straight grip stock with shotgun style butt and plastic Winchester buttplate. Barrel blue is very strong as are the barrel markings. The two line barrel address has a final patent date of January 20, 1885. Between the two line address and the rear sight is stamped "MADE IN U.S.A.". Adjacent to the rear sight is the Model stamp on the right and caliber stamp on left. The sights are standard ladder adjust rear and Lyman blade front. Both sides of the receiver show a mixing of blue and gray. The receiver bottom blue is worn from carry. Receiver screw heads are good and both the top and lower tang screw heads show slightly raised edges. Both the forend and butt show a good oil refinish with only very modest handling. There is a small repaired crack (1-inch long) on the left side of the wrist running from the rear of the receiver to the top tang. The 1886 was one of the strongest designs ever utilized in a Winchester lever rifle.
