Winchester 1892 Sporting Rifle in takedown configuration. Serial number 16507 (1st year production). A 24-inch octagon barrel chambered in .38-40 Winchester. Bore rates good with strong rifling. With full length magazine tube. Varnished walnut stock with capped forend, straight wrist, and crescent shape steel buttplate. The buttplate is gray. The barrel blue is strong showing edge wear, light wear at muzzle, and only a few light scattered scratches. Blue on magazine tube is strong and shows some scratches from dissassembly. Two line barrel address and caliber stamp crisp. Sights are standard and include ladder adjust buckhorn rear and blade front. The receiver shows about 40% blue remaining with light scratches on both sides and wear on bottom from carry. Finger lever is gray. The blue on lower tang is strong. Top tang stamp " MODEL 1892/WINCHESTER/PAT. OCT. 18 1884" is crisp. The stock is solid with no visible cracks and only light handling marks mostly on the butt. With about 90% varnish.
