It is a department revolver with transitional pre-lock features, and we consider it to be in Very Good condition. The most detracting feature is a small but heavy mar on the upper left rear edge of the frame, but this does not affect the sight. There are several more small pecks on the right side of the frame, in addition to lighter contact evidence. We consider that this revolver has 80 percent or so of its original finish remaining, but we believe we have included sufficient photography for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves. Department marking number 37 is etched inconspicuously on the flat underside of the barrel directly above the cylinder rod, and the number appears again 3 times on the Michaels grip that is in otherwise Very Good Condition. Dark-coloured traditional hammer-nose hammer and MIM-predecessor trigger are both affected by about 30 percent dark toning. We consider this 65-5 to be Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the underside of the topstrap is light and even negligible. Lateral cylinder play is very little, 1mm or less. Double action trigger pull is mildly stiff but smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels 3 to 5 degrees in all positions in double action after the cylinder times into place. Single action pull is light and crisp, about 3 pounds; and the hammer travels a full 15 to 20 degrees after the cylinder times into place on Single Action.
