This is the earliest form of ignition system after the touch ignition hand cannons. To fire this piece a length of cord which was treated to keep it slowly burning was placed in the cock which then dipped directly into the powder in the pan when you were ready to shoot. It probably dates from the 17th Century. This is really quite a Camel gun! It is 67 inches long with about a .70 caliber bore. It looks complete except for the missing pan on the side of the barrel. It is in very nice condition with a nice patina to the wood and metal parts. This gun was no doubt a British Officer's bring back because it was found hanging in an old English Pub in the 60's. Quite a conversation piece!! SEND EMAIL ADDRESS FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS.
